Marico Aoki (Saitama, Japan)
[Recommended by Art Center Ongoing]
Mariko Aoki was born in 1985, Saitama, Japan.
Aoki is an interdisciplinary artist who combines a wide variety of media in her practice. Her works include sculptures made from artificial ornaments and videos which show the artist performing rituals or tasks and depicted as evolving stories through a flip-book. In her works, everything in this world is considered to have its own individual consciousness, belonging to numerous other worlds that chaotically jumble together. Aoki tries to express these parallel worlds from various perspectives.
