Art organizations and artist collectives from 7 cities of Asian countries will participate in "Alternative Route Symposium on Contemporary Art, History and Current Issue in Asia" features art organizations and collectives that practice unique art projects, and has been in co-partnership with Koganecho Area Management Center, from seven different cities in Asia.
A4 Contemporary Arts Center is a non-profit contemporary arts institute solely sponsored by Chengdu Wide Horizon Real Estate Development Co., Ltd, established in March, 2008. The Center strives to spread and promote contemporary art in China and boost international culture and art communication. Every year, the Center presents a series of art activities including art exhibitions, academic lectures, A4 Arts Salon and Luxetown Concert, Experimental Performances. Specialized education center, member club and bookstore are also set up to provide multi-dimensional art services for the public. Through national and international cooperation, we hope to make the center one of the important platforms for contemporary art in China.
Art Center Ongoing is a multi-functional art space with a gallery space. Since its inception, it has been introducing cutting-edge contemporary artists. It also houses a café and bar that facilitates networking and a library that provides an open access to a unique archive of information on the artists. The center also proactively organizes symposiums, live music events and other activities to further possibilities of current creative expressions.
The Bamboo Curtain Studio (BCS) in Taiwan aims to promote cross-cultural exchanges by providing a meeting point for visitors from national and international art related fields, for short visits or specific projects. The vision of the Studio is to assist in the further understanding and development of emerging art trends in Taiwan. On the complex of the old chicken farm, it endeavors to provide room and space for artist-in-residency, research, exhibition, performance or experimental productions. It has by 2013 received more than 50 international creative talents from all over the world. It is also an active platform for information sharing in international cultural exchange and artist mobility. The significant project in BCS is “Art as Environment: A Cultural Action at the Plum Tree Creek”, which collaborates with curators, artists, scientists, historians, activists and local groups in multi-disciplines via art actions and community involvement to evoke the local awareness on the environmental and sustainable issues.
CAC is an artist collective founded in January 2013. The objective of the collective is to build the first online platform to link people, spaces and information for the art scene in Chiang Mai. For its initial project, CAC is currently creating a comprehensive art map online that locates and provides information about art spaces, events and people. They are in the process of collecting and creating related data for the archive. Although CAC uses cyberspace as its working site, it encourages physical connection between the art community and its audience.
The first art museum specialized by an art university in Taiwan. The structure consists of six layers, including nine display rooms and two outdoor squares, stretching for 2,400 square meters in total. The main construction of the museum was completed in 1996 and held its first exhibition in 2001. Ever since then, with the subsidy from the Ministry of Education, the museum has been closed for interior readjustment until 2005. KdMoFA protrudes itself by organizing exhibitions over the Taiwanese or Asian issues as well as hosting the “Kuandu Biennale” starting from 2008. The conceptual model of the museum is to be an academic, and at the same time, communal art museum while serving the bridge between the university and the local communities in order to play the significant role as both the professional artistic and social educator. Moreover, by extending the track from foreign artistic groups through exhibitions, it attempts to serve as the platform for international dialogue.
A non-profit and independent organization established in 1999 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. KUNCI is working to create an Indonesian society that is culturally critical, open, and empowered. Its mission is to develop cultural studies with the spirit of experimentation and to advance its criticality into a wider movement through popular education practices.
Mite-Ugro is a non-profit art space and an organization that is located in the traditional market at the center of Gwangju downtown where the Korean government’s projects such as Gwanju Biennale and Asia Culture Complex have placed; it was established by the will of the artists and the curators. We are currently working on international residency, young artists’ artwork creation supports, international exchange exhibitions, independent curators workshops, etc., and are striving for artists exchanges and culture exchanges through the
98B COLLABoratory is a platform for critical discourse, experimentation, exchange, information and presentation of contemporary art in the Philippines. It seeks to establish a convergence with artists, designers, curators, writers, musicians, film makers, activists, educators, researchers, cultural workers, performers, architects and students together with the general public. Deemed as a site for creative sharing, discussion and collaboration, 98B is a community + network + library + kitchen + shop. Through its various programs, projects, projects and research,98B aims to present local and international contemporary art outside the confines of the white cube format. As such, it presents art in multiple layers and perspectives to a broad and diverse audience while contributing to the contemporary art scene.
Outsiders Factory is a curatorial group/team founded in 2010. Our main goal is to connect the international art circles (especially with non-western continents) with Taiwanese art circles. Our members include young curators, art mangers, psychologists, philosophers, historians, etc. We give up the “space oriented” method (it means we don’t managing & running an art space), in the other hand, we adopt “project oriented” methodology for our curating works: We only remain a small space as our office. If we need to involve into any artistic projects, we just collaborate with other spaces around the world. We try to create the largest mobility and lowest financial budget for our members & projects.

Koganecho Area Management Center (KAMC) is an NPO that uses art to revitalize the Yokohama City Naka Ward Koganecho urban area. Aside from everyday effort, KAMC’s main projects include the annual art festival “Koganecho Bazaar”, artist-in-residence program and Koganecho Art School that provides the local community with a place of learning and exchange. In 2013, the organization became a Certified Non-Profit organization. KAMC aims to extend its activities.
